Disappointed with our Federal Government

I followed a link on twitter although now i can’t remember who from to a blog post Rudd sides with the bigots and I realised that I was disappointed with our Federal Government.

We have come a long way as a country in many ways and i am a proud Australian. For a significant amount of my life i was even a member of the armed forces which meant that I did my part to stand up and look after the country. But what upsets me in these modern times is that the government is still telling people how they can spend the rest of their lives together with.Man and woman, yes you can marry but in the eyes of our government same sex partnerships can’t be recognised as a marriage.

Now don’t get me wrong, i do understand that any change in the government stance would be unpopular in some circles including the religious ones. But the same freedom to hold beliefs of religion should be extended to other beliefs whether it be for other religion or what defines a couple and how it should be recognised. When i vote, i vote for a government that is not going to avoid the hard decisions and is going to do what is right, not what is easy and not going to rock the boat.

So come on Australia. Join the 21st century, as a straight guy I am saying there is nothing wrong with same sex marriages. Let them decide how best to spend their lives together.

Just reading Time Top 10 Microsoft Moments - Bill Gates was never cool in any of them though.

For the record, in my opinion the highlight of Microsoft Operating Systems was Windows 98 Second Edition. For me it just worked as it should.

As for the Seinfield Ad, it is painful viewing,
