Dominos - it is the one with the snot on the box

Let me preface this and say i am a fan of pizza and that most times it is dominos and will continue to be.

Thanks to bouncing around the interweb as i am prone to do i discovered a video today from Patrick Doyle the President of Dominos USA entitled Disgusting Dominos People - Dominos Responds:

Kudos to Patrick - he has taken in hand what is a less than glorious day for the company. The only thing it didn’t say was what really happened so with a little bit of research I found Net manhunt tracks dirty Domino’s duo and from there finding the videos was easy with a link to Let the Domino’s appall. You probably don’t want to read it if your having dominos tonight or just have a weak stomach when it comes to bodily functions and fluids (there is a couple of keywords you don’t want associated with your blog!). Reminds me of the scene from Road Trip with the French Toast, only in this “trip” there were two characters, a guy and a girl and they are both gay and have low standards of personal conduct.

It got me thinking, there have been a few less than savory places i have been in that I wouldn’t put it past them doing things like that but i wouldn’t put it past them. There is a place where over the course of a year i got food from three times and three times i was crook from afterwards.

But to their credit, dominos isn’t one of them. They just frustrate the hell out of me more times than not when I order from my local Dominos store but i have had no serious complaints with the actual food. The service is somewhat lacking though with many notible problems including combinations of:

  • There is the great chocolate lava pudding incident where they forgot to put my pudding in with my order and tried to tell me they were soldout. Their excuse came undone though since at the time the person working the pizza oven had just taken out two puddings for a different order after mine
  • The time where i had to keep interupting the person serving me who was more interested in planning her night out with one of the drivers than actually doing the highly complex task of getting my order out of the oven. It wasn’t the conversation you have while your doing something, it was the lean against the wall chat - after finding out the name for my order etc.
  • It is not unusual for my order to be either stuffed up or contamination on my pizza - i have pepperoni so why is there a piece or pieces of pineapple on my pizza or capsicum or chicken or  … well you get the idea.
  • I order and pay online - they remember half the time to get me to sign and of those times they never actually check that the signature or even the credit card is mine!

But the thing that annoys me most about picking up from Dominos is this. They have an electronic  order board that gives the status of how long until each order is ready and what stage it is at such as Greg making 10 minutes which is fine and easy to understand. Someone comes in to the store in front of me, their order is 10 minutes from being ready and mine is listed as ready. The server inisists on looking for the person in fronts order rather than just looking on the board. Couple of minutes later they have searched the orders and then checked to establish the order will be ready in around 8 minutes. Meanwhile my order was already waiting.

I am hoping from this that there will be a global lifting of standards amongst the dominos team. Or at least they check my signature and the order status board. Am i hoping for too much?
