Its not Swine Flu
So here I am early evening and ready for bed. Thanks to what seems to be a bad case of the flu, I have been off work since Friday and am not going to be back before Thursday and let me tell you, there is not a worse time to have flu like symptoms than what is going on right now with the outbreak of the Swine Flu in Mexico and seemingly spreading fast. You find yourself wondering … what if? All my symptoms actually matched that of swine flu but for one. Well two if you count death.
Now the thing that has really got to me is the fatigue more than anything else with constant exhaustion and fatigue that came with my particular flavour of flu. What it gave me is a greater understanding of what it must be like for people to live with that every day , it would be a hard life and one that I am all the more grateful that I don’t have to live with every day!
I bought a book
I don’t mean to alarm you or anything but i bought a book the other day. Now this is something that i have done in the past and once it used to be quite often but since i met the internet, the days of reading books have just gone out the window.
The other week i caught an interview with Michael J Fox on The Late Show talking about his new book Always Looking Up – The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist. I have only gota little way into the book where he talks about trying to work on Spin City with his Parkinsons Disease syptoms and his decision to quit the show.
Now the thing that i have noticed so far it is really lives up to his name. His reached what is a life changing event where his leaving his career and moving into a new phase of his life and his still an optimist.Thats what is so suprising as most people would just want to curl up in a ball and generally not taking it well. Thats probably how i would take a diagnosis of Parkinsons.
Blog Pressure
Today is a big day - this is the 500th day in a row that I have been simultaneously managing and posting two photoblogs, Hobart Daily and Bicheno Daily. There have been a few days where i have come close to missing a post but i made it.
Guess i need to make today’s posts good ones!
Now a Preliminary Pirate
I will be perfectly honest, i am not a huge fan of politics as the whole activity of politics can get in the way of good government as our politicians cury favour to keep their seat for the next time there is an election. It means you end up with decisions being taken based on political sense rather than common sense. Not that i am advocating an alternative system, dictatorship doesn’t mean better government, of that i am sure.
So it comes as a bit of a suprise to announce i have joined the Australian Pirate Party and not the kind with eye patches and parrots on one shoulder. Rather the free culture and the ability to do what ever i want with property i have bought without breaking the law such as copying my own dvds. Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a particulr hate of mine as since i have bought the album, song or what ever, for my own personal use I would like to do what i want with it. DRM is often forced on the consumer without their knowledge or consent and has even at times exposed the user to security threat (Can anyone say Root Kit such as the Sony Scandal).
I encourage you to join, there is no cost to be a preliminary member
Most Filthy McDonalds in the World?
Let it not be said i am not an equal opportunity blogger when it comes to blogging about takeaway food disasters after my earlier post about Dominos - it is the one with the snot on the box. Fresh off Youtube i found a McDonalds looking a little worse for wear …
According to Adelaide now it is the second most viewed article on the UK Daily Mail website and generated a heap of hits from the Drudge report. The only place i can’t seem to find it is on the Tourism Australia website as i would love to see Lara poncing through the rubbish with a bikini on asking “Where the bloody hell are you?” Of course she could then be referring to the cleaners!
