Bacon and Egg McMuffin

Bacon and Egg McMuffin

This morning lying in bed my tv spoke to me and it said one word over and over. Bacon.

Yes I know, its unusual and more than a little bizare but it really wasn’t like that. I was watching an episode of Letterman that recorded earlier with an interview with Dennis Leary who kept talking about Bacon. His love of bacon, his bacon diet, that his doctor told him that he would have to give up bacon when he turned 50. And there I am hearing bacon, bacon and bacon.

The idea of bacon was especially appealing and so i had to head to the local McDonalds for the double bacon and egg muffin in the picture. It had bacon, just what i wanted.

On the same show it also mentioned an interesting fact although i am not confident that it was true, that the average McDonalds employee in the USA makes $2,000 a year in bribes to make breakfast after the breakfast menu closes.

Mmmmm Bacon.

I think i might buy a book

I just caught an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman with Michael J Fox. It is the first time that i have seen him in years and the first time that i have seen him symptomatic with Parkinsons Disease and it was initially distracting but then i quickly got used to it. And some of the stuff he has been up to had me laughing hard and he has been up to interesting stuff including filming a special in the Himalayas.

It also got mentioned that his just written another book Always Looking Up: Observations of an Incurable Optimist and i think it sounds like a book i might like to read. After much searching i even managed to find my Dymocks card and i think i will buy the book as it sounds like a laugh.

Farewell Daylight Savings

Sunday was in my humble opinion, a sad day as i bid farewell to day light savings for another summer. Psychologically while i am not a fan of going to work in the dark, coming home in dark for me seems to be a great weight pressing down on me. Explains perhaps why i was so crap when i worked shift work now that i think about it.So i guess it isn’t a bit suprise i especially liked it in 2000 when day light savings started in August for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Now the strangest thing is that for the most part until the end of day light savings the weather was quite mild and while it wasn’t beach weather, it wasn’t too bad all things considered. But Sunday turned cold and today is even colder with snow on Mt Wellington and the weather being somewhere between cold and freezing. How depressing!

So anyway, sigh. End of daylight savings, start of winter. If i were a rich man then i would be jumping on my private yet and heading off somewhere warmer.

The New Norfolk Autumn Festival

I took the chance to visit New Norfolk today for their Autumn Festival. Now this was my first Autumn Festival and I was not sure what to expect. What it turned out to be was a really strange mix that ranged from country music with a solo performer playing a banjo (never did catch his name) to members of the Buddist Community in Hobart performing Lion and Dragon dances. Of course being the country there were also sheep dog trials that included of all things two dogs rounding up a trio of ducks. And the weather ranged from bright sunshine to pouring rain to keep us cold and wet.

Stangely thinking back now the image that is really going to stick with me is a strange one. There was a hippy/alternative lifestyle person sitting making hand made spoons. And walking by i caught a whiff of the delightful smell of freshly cut wood. For me i do love the smell of freshly cut or sanded wood.

Other than that there was a strange abundance of mostly food stores which i at first thought seemed like total overkill but then seemed like it was worth it as all seemed well patronised, at least until the next shower came along.

I also got to catch up with a couple of friends that i know from Twitter as it is always good to catch up and meet people.

For those that have it in Australia, daylight savings is ending so don’t forget to put your clock BACK an hour.
